What are Interventional Procedures?
The execution of these examinations is carried out by specialised radiologists, with our staff offering support throughout the procedure. Occasionally, it may be necessary to remain in the clinic post procedure for observation, and you might be advised to have a family member or friend accompany you for the drive home.
The availability of interventional procedures varies among clinics, with larger facilities typically providing a broader spectrum of procedures. The selection of tests offered may be tailored to the specialised expertise of individual radiologists.

Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, an appointment is required. We do not offer walk-in services for interventional procedures at Radiology Tasmania.
What Interventional Procedures are offered at Radiology Tasmania clinics?
Radiology Tasmania offers a range of interventional procedures. Bursal injections and joint injections are performed at all clinics but we also offer PRP blood injections, aspirations, drainage, CT nerve root and epideural injections, CT hydrodilatation and fine needle aspiration biopsies.

Are there any restrictions on driving after my procedure?
The specifics will vary based on the particular interventional procedure you undergo. When you make your appointment, our team will provide information on any driving restrictions after the procedure and address any other questions you may have regarding the procedure and recovery instructions.
How long until the injection will take effect?
The timeframe for the injection to take effect will be discussed in detail by your GP and our team before your appointment, taking various factors into consideration.
Do I need a new referral, or can I just use the same referral from a previous appointment?
Prior to scheduling your appointment, it’s necessary to secure a new referral from your GP or specialist. Referrals are typically valid for a single procedure unless explicitly indicated for a treatment course.
