Radiologist vacancy

Radiology Tasmania was established in May 2007. It is the first independent radiology practice to break I-MED’s monopoly in Tasmania.

Our practice has been an immediate success, completing 110 examinations on our third day of operation. We now conduct between 100 and 120 examinations per day, which is 25% of the Hobart market.

Many GPs and specialists are asking when we will open a second site. Our response is: ‘as soon as we have more radiologists’. So if you would like to join a thriving independent practice in a city that offers a wonderful lifestyle please call us.

Why is the practice so successful?
The simple reason for our success is the outstanding quality of our staff and the service they deliver. Our 14 staff have a combined total of 150 years experience in radiology.

Dr Philippa Taplin is the principal of the practice. Philippa was the double gold medallist when she qualified as a radiologist in 1995. Philippa has been an examiner for the last 5 years and serves on the RANZCR Council.

Philippa went to Medical school in Hobart and decided to stay in the State so she could work and raise a family in a city that offers a terrific quality of life.

During her time working in public and private, Philippa has built a reputation for providing expert advice and comprehensive reports that enable referrers to deliver the best quality care for their patients.

Dr Robin Harle also has a reputation for providing the highest quality reports. Robin has worked primarily in the public system for the last 10 years. Robin is the Branch Education Officer in Tasmania and coordinates the training and education of the registrars.

Robin and Philippa share an interest in research and education and both enjoy teaching registrars and radiographers in the practice.

Why open an independent practice?
One reason for opening an independent practice in Hobart was to provide an alternative for referrers. The immediate impact of our opening was for I-MED to reintroduce bulk billing, which they had abolished for most procedures in Tasmania 4 years earlier.

The second reason for opening an independent practice was to deliver quality radiology in a ‘personal’ way. For example, many referrers phone Philippa and Robin for advice on the best procedure for a patient. Similarly Philippa and Robin will phone referrers if a report is needed urgently or if something unusual has been identified.

Our outstanding service is largely due to our brilliant reception staff, radiographers and sonographers. All our team are experienced professionals who have built our reputation and take personal pride in the service we deliver.

We have also bought state of the art CT, ultrasound and X-ray equipment and software.

If you would like to discuss the opportunities, salary and profit share available please phone Philippa on 03 6272 0200 or email ptaplin@radiologytasmania.com.au.

All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.
